Integrating Distributed Energy Resources into Smart Grid by SGED Model

چکیده :
The integration of Distributed Energy Resources into Smart Grids offers utilities significant benefits, including enhanced energy efficiency, sustainability through renewables, improved grid reliability during outages, and revenue opportunities. However, adapting to the rapidly changing grid landscape requires careful planning to manage the complex interactions between multiple DERs and the grid effectively. This paper presents a structured roadmap for the integration of DERs, utilizing the Smart Grid Evaluation and Development (SGED) model as a guide. The 5-step process starts with identifying DERs and progresses through optimization and pioneering phases. These phases focus on refining the DER Management System and strategically positioning DERs within the grid. By following this roadmap, utilities can unlock the full potential of DERs, applying in a more efficient, sustainable, and responsive energy landscape while addressing the challenges posed by evolving grid dynamics. The paper concludes with a case study, examining the applicability and implementation of the proposed model within Iran's utilities.
