Design and Analysis of a PWM-Based AC-AC Converter with Low-Ripple Input Current

چکیده :
Recently, energy management systems include AC-AC power conversion as a critical component because of the wide variety of applications that need varied power levels and voltage conversion between AC grids and AC loads. This study presents a modified non-inverted single-phase AC-AC converter that utilizes pulse width modulation (PWM) and is based on a non-differential buck AC chopper leg. To control the output voltage, it modulates two effective switching states, allowing for flexible modes of operation. The overall switching loss is drastically reduced in the proposed converter since just one-half of the switches are switched at high frequency within a switching interval. Moreover, the converter's ability to maintain the input and output's shared ground is a major benefit. The suggested topology also has other benefits, such as simple control, low-rippled continuous input current, reduced number of elements and less switch voltage stress. Also, an in-depth analysis is conducted to examine the operating concept and compare all of operation modes. Finally, the suggested converter's performance has been thoroughly validated by simulating it in MATLAB/Simulink and subjecting it to various tests.
